ON Semiconductor's 12-volt linear voltage regulator comes under the MC7812 family. These products are monolithic integrated circuits designed as fixed-voltage regulators for a wide range of applications including local, on-card regulation. The positive 7812 voltage regulator requires no external components and incorporates internal thermal overload protection and current limiting plus safe area compensation. There is no need for external components although it is possible to adjust the voltage and current with external devices.
